How I got started

Victoria Gunawan

I began photographing for fun in 2009, when I bought a digital Sony camera. I carried it around everywhere I went capturing things that fascinated me, which were mainly sunsets and flowers. However, I never had any formal lessons about photography until I came to Hesston College, where I took a basic journalism class which included some basic photography skills for publishing purposes. I was also part of the yearbook staff, which also taught me more useful tips to portray more appealing images. After getting my associate degree at Hesston College, I transferred and enrolled as a full-time student at Eastern Mennonite University (EMU). I plan on graduating from EMU in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a minor in Mathematics. I hope to obtain a lot of photographic and designing experiences for different purposes such as news printing, web publishing, and much more.
