About Jamie Sumnick

My name is Jamie Sumnick and I am currently a Photography major at Eastern Mennonite University. My interest in photography began at a very young age; basically as soon as my grandpa would let m use his point and shoot camera, I fell in love. I took a photography course in high school in which I learned how to use a film camera, develop and print film images, build a pinhole camera, use a digital camera, and basic tools in photoshop. At this point, I was utterly immersed in the world of photography, but as life calls for a more practical career, I turned my focus to the sciences for the remainder of my high school career. It wasn’t until my second year at EMU, when I was about to start the nursing program, that I was reunited with my long lost love and decided to change my career path once again.

While I work on completing my bachelors in Visual and Communications Art degree with a major in photography, I also take clients for portrait photography on the side. My life’s ambition is to become a wedding photographer, as the inner Disney Princess in me loves a happy ending!
