Nathan Oostland Portfolio

I created these pieces in a class called Foundations of Design freshman year of college. I learned about how lines, shapes, space, repetition, and color all play a part in the creation of a successful image. In each of these images I experiment with colors to show how they contrast or complement each other.

The first image I designed and painted by hand. It was a great learning experience and aided in my understanding of the complexity of hand-made art. I made the other pieces using photoshop, which had its own complexities. Creating art on the computer was fun and exciting. I moved individual shapes and images around to experiment with composition and progressive thinking during the process.
