I am a photography and history major at Eastern Mennonite University. Within the photography major, I have learned how to create compelling images in various genres such as, street, studio, conservation, and macro photography. My history major has improved my writing ability, teaching me how to create an interesting thesis and write a cohesive paper. I am continually challenged to create new concepts and projects which have improved my creativity and planning abilities. I am proficient in Adobe Lightroom Classic and have gained experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
I take a journalistic approach to photography, where I look for events that I can photograph and then write about to bring others into the story. I have learned how to talk to people globally, such as interviewing muralists in Lithuania, and locally, documenting two musicians' creative processes in Harrisonburg, right around EMU. I have also worked with clients and the local community to document a community painting event, photographing Macrock Music Festival, and even going to a political rally in Washington D.C. to raise support for Ukraine.
I first found my interest in photography while on a cross-cultural experience in Lithuania, where every day I spent hours immersing myself in the visual world around me. My goal is always to properly tell the stories of the places I visit and the experiences I gain. More recently, I have traveled to Romania where I visited various archaeological sites, photographing the Roman ruins and learning about the Dacian culture which preceded the current nation.
