This series explored the creative process of designing book jackets for a well-known novel, The Sign of Four by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Before the creative process even began, I read the novel multiple times and took extensive notes on the important ideas, characters and reoccurring images. I then took these ideas and notes and created pieces that I felt represented the concept of Doyle's most famous character and his adventure. Throughout this project I was able to learn first hand the work that needed to be put in to create something as simple as a book cover. I saw the attention to detail that was required and learned how to create pieces that sparked interest without giving the entire plot away. After doing several revisions and critiques I ended up with five pieces with different looks that still upheld the feeling and detail of Doyle's great novel.
