Spy Narrative

photography > Series > Narrative

This series was class assignment. We had to create a narrative with photographs. Inspired by the James Bond films, I created a story based on a spy. More importantly, the villain. This series is the story of the rise and fall of a villain.

I really wanted to use lighting to tell the story. When it begins the coloring is a gross yellow, in the hopes it gives an uneasy feeling about the man in the hat. The close up of his face keeps the yellow tinting, as well as the darkness that is inside the man with half his face in black. Then, when the new character is introduced, the man in the suit, some neutral colored lighting makes its debut. It begins to show the clashing of the two individuals the story revolves around. From here I wanted a bit of change in scenery. The bloody hand and the glass of wine (or blood?!) shattering gives an ambiguous conflict. Directly followed by this is a close up of the man in the hat with the neutral lighting taking over his face, only to finally be defeated in the final scene.
