LIGHT PAINTINGS
People often think of photography as an instant, frozen in time, artfully captured inside of a camera. Light painting photography challenges and disproves this common misconception. My light paintings capture time anywhere from eight to thirty seconds in one image. People commonly see light paintings of cityscapes or star trails, but I have created and planned my own light paintings.
What is unique about light painting is that it is a subject with no substance. There is no convenient way to focus the subject or position it perfectly, it is trial and error. Not only is photography an art, but the movement and color of the lights, I believe, is an art in itself.
