About Scott

I originally started my photography business in 2004 in Toronto, Ontario. I shot mainly weddings, portraits and family sessions. Almost entirely self-taught at that time, my photography business took off in my second year of business and I enjoyed the success that came with that. Ultimately however, I shut down operations to pursue my dream job - Youth Ministry.

A while later I found myself wanting to re-enter the photography realm, and decided to start by getting formal training. Currently a senior at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg Virginia, I am close to graduating with a degree in photography. By taking the time to learn the art of photography I have seen my work grow exponentially and this growth is evident to me in the images I am producing. The combination of education in photography and pursuing my passion in sports leaves me loving what I do and I believe that that shows in the quality of my work.

I grew up playing multiple sports at various levels. I played Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey and Volleyball at the high-school level. Beyond high-school I competed both as a player and coach in Men's Fastball (women's softball, but for men) on a Provincial, National and World level, and also served as an assistant with EMU's women's softball team in 2013. I know from experience what it takes to compete at the highest level and that knowledge transfers into my images. From my experiences in sports, I feel I have an innate sense for anticipating the exciting moments that become iconic in images and always have my camera ready and aimed.

I am also a happy husband to Sarah and proud father of Nolan Ryan (yes, that's my son's name) and love living in the Shenandoah Valley. When I am not doing photography, I am enjoying my other job as Residence Director at EMU, where I get to spend time interacting with students in a residential setting. I am getting into bike riding and am excited to teach Nolan different sports as he shows a growing interest in being active and trying them out.

I welcome you to come along with me on this journey of sports photography. Whether you are interested in the images as a general observer, or want to see yourself, a family member or friend who I may have captured in their competitive moments, I appreciate your time to stop here and look around.
