The goal of my artwork is essentially self expression. The series that I am currently working on, entitled "Dogs in Dive Bars" (which you may view below), is a combination of my love for animals and my fascination with dive bars. Generally speaking, most people who have their lives all together don't end up passed out in dive bars. I like my paintings to say something about how society treats those who have hit rock bottom, however this series in particular is something that is more towards the gimmicky pet portait work that I do. In reality this series is a hybrid of both, it just isn't as powerful because I mean, dogs are cute, and when dogs act like people it generally translates as cutesy. The first piece in the series, entitled "Finals Week" inspired me to continue making these piece after being received so positively by others in the pet portait community.
