ABOUT CHRISTY JOY KAUFFMAN

I am a young designer that values the reasons behind a design. I'm in my Junior year at Eastern Mennonite University majoring in Digital Media with a minor in Humanitarian Action. I graduated from Hesston College with an A.A. in Graphic Design and Disaster Management.

My passion for service and my creative gifts for design are integrated into my work. I was uniquely part of the Disaster Management program and Humanitarian Action; along with a design education, in order to gain experience and knowledge of mission networks and volunteer organizations.

These opportunities have widened my view of service and knowledge of ministry and recovery networks. I worked hands on with Mennonite Disaster Service doing both on site work as a volunteer in several locations as well as working for them in redesigning their volunteer guide. I was also given the opportunity to work with Ten Thousand Villages which is an organization that allows artisans in other counties to sell their products in the states with a fair wage. I love their values and how they are using collaborative design with the artisans to create quality products for a sustainable income. I hope to use my creative abilities to tell a story and raise awareness of those who need help and of those making a difference. Having been blessed with a creative mind and artistic ability, my hope is to be a designer that makes an impact. Design is something that stirs people and tells a story. People respond to that and I want to tell those stories!
