landscapes

I love photographing landscapes for many reasons. Since childhood I have loved to be outdoors and exploring. Photographing landscapes gives me a new way to explore and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us, which all to often goes unnoticed. I also enjoy the solitude that I have when I stand in a field under the stars or while watching a sunrise. Just me and the camera. This time alone gives me a moment to unwind and appreciate the large diverse universe we live in. In the collection of landscapes displayed below, I used techniques such as long exposures, panoramas, and high dynamic range. My hope is that these images help you to see beauty as I see it through my lens.

wildlife

Wildlife photography is a uniquely challenging and exciting form of photography. For me, photographing wildlife is a wonderful way to appreciate local biodiversity. Animals, unlike people, have no concept of having their picture taken, so they can be much more difficult to photograph, yet substantially less awkward. When I photograph animals, I sometimes see it as a blend between an art and a science. When I photography something very small using macrophotography it allows me a glimpse into a very tiny universe that I could not witness without the camera to enlarge it. looking through the lens, I can see the details of very small creatures that most people will never get to appreciate first hand. Similarly, with telephoto lenses, I am able to view the details of an animal that would never willingly come close enough so that my eyes alone could fully appreciate it. Photographing wildlife gives me a greater appreciation for the magnificent fauna that hides amongst us.
