Artist Statement

It was an unseasonably warm day in winter, and I decided to go on a walk. I went to the woods behind my house, not expecting to see much life. I was pleasantly surprised to come across all of these flowers and other plant life among the dead leaves. This just goes to show that you can find evidence of life where you least expect it.

All of the people I interviewed in this collection of articles are just regular people. Some are young, trying to make it through school so they can launch their careers. Some are older, trying to reinvent themselves as they enter a new stage of life. Interviewing these people and hearing their stories was an amazing experience for me. They reminded me to step out of my own perspective and to listen and learn from their experiences. We all have stories to share, but we’ll never hear them if no one asks.
