Artist's Statement

Growing up, I had always had a passion for design and creativity. Along with a variety of hobbies, creating art was something that I kept constant throughout my life. While fairly recently joining the Visual and Communication Arts Department, I have had the opportunity to express my creativity using various art techniques. Within the gallery above, I have displayed several of my own personal pieces, many of which vary within the technique used during the creative process.

Starting with the first picture displayed above, "Perspective", through "Universal Intersection", various mixtures between the three primary colors, along with black and white acrylic paint allowed me to create these pieces. The rest of the photos were created using watercolor paint and usually an ink pen to emphasize edges; the exception being, "Colorless Fall", which was done using black ink and a felt tip pen. Although it may not be an obvious pattern, many of the pieces have some sort of "wave-like" motion. As a starting point, I find it personally comforting to start brainstorming by drawing "wave-like" motions on the paper and then turning these abstract visuals into definitive works of art.
