About: Claire Waidelich

I am a Junior Computer Science major at Eastern Mennonite University. I have acquired skills in Java, Python and HTML5. I am currently taking classes in Computer Architecture and Operating Systems as well as Computer Graphics. I took a year off to do volunteer service in 2014-15, and gained leadership skills in the process. I want to be able to be an advocate for computer science, especially for women in the computing sciences. I appreciate the direction technology is going. I want technology to be seen as a tool to benefit others.

The Myth about computer Science...

Many people believe that people who work in computer science jobs are stuck in small cubicles, don't interact with others, and furiously write lines and lines of code. They are also percieved as people who hide in their dark dreary basements and make plans for world domination!

By exhibiting my course work, I want people who are interested in computer science to see all the different types of skills that can be learned.
