about me

Sierra Comer
I first became acquainted with using a camera my freshmen year of high school in a beginner photojournalism class. From there I went on to continue taking the classes and developing my skills as a photographer. I decided to come to Eastern Mennonite University, but shockingly to my family and everyone else I declared an Education major and made it my goal to teach high schoolers photojournalism. I wanted to impact them the way I was by my teacher. Eventually I came to the conclusion that I would be happier getting out there and doing these things rather than teaching it, so I changed my major to Photography. With this I’m hoping to specifically focus on photography and refine my skills enough that I can do that as my career once I graduate. I take a huge interest in photographing old buildings, usually the more destroyed they are, the better. I also really like to take landscapes and portraits. I’ve taken headshots for the EMU Theater Department, but other than that I’m just a student and focusing on refining my skills, and haven’t had a lot of off campus opportunities to photograph things.
