The beauty of poetry is that the writer's intended message is not always easily presented. It might take you while before you understand what the writer is trying to convey. Sometimes you may not even figure out the writers intended message. Is that a bad thing? No, sometimes when a poem is vague, it forces the reader to dissect the poem. Since we all think differently, a vague poem can have many different interpretations. Leaving a poem vague can make for a richer reading experience. Poetry is art. Art is objective.
