About this project
These portrait photos were taken for a project in Photography I. This class was an introduction course to photography. Basic principles were learned and there was a strong emphasis on learning how to use the camera in effective ways. The goal of this project was to further our understanding of lighting in portrait photos and how it can affect the mood and story of the pictures.
Each student was assigned two adjectives that they were supposed to incorporate into their portraits. My adjectives were colorful and soft. I worked in an environment where I had full control of the lighting. I used two light sources: a colored light facing the subject, and another white light towards the back left of the subject.
